Experience STEM wonder, bite-sized! Our free, downloadable STEM Bite resources are designed to be enjoyed year-round – offering kaiako and ākonga a taste of STEM learning, the wonder way.
How it works
Kaiako can download and use our STEM Bite resources at any time with their ākonga. Simply enter your details and we’ll send you the resource complete with everything you need to know to run it confidently in your class.
Some of these resources require specialist equipment which we sell in the Wonder Project online shop. Unlike our main challenges, we do not provide free kits or STEM professional support alongside our STEM Bites.
Level 4, Year 7–8
Mini Plant Challenge
1–2 hours per session, 4–6 weeks
Let’s grow! Ākonga work together to trial, design and innovate a controlled hydroponic system to grow microgreens. Along the way, they’ll learn the exciting role of STEM in unleashing the potential of plants – all to answer the ultimate pātai: I wonder how to grow food sustainably?
This challenge requires a sensor kit to measure humidity, light, conductivity and temperature. After download, you'll be sent a link to our online shop where you can choose to purchase a sensor kit.
